Su Xiao, a stunt double, throws herself into playing the "shadow lover" in *Late Spring* by getting close to Lu Jingshen—both the drama's tycoon and a real-life entertainment mogul. She portrays the character's tenderness and grievance so vividly that she blurs fiction with reality: Lu sends medicine overnight when she's hurt, holds her under the eave on a rainy night. But when his first love returns, he coldly says, "You're just a substitute." Su collapses and quits the crew, only to find Lu had secretly rewritten the "shadow's" ending to "mutual love"—and in his pocket, a proposal ring engraved with her name waits.
