Returned architect Chen Jianyu is tasked with redeveloping the old alley "Fuxing Li" in Hong Kong, only to encounter Li Shiqi—the owner of a family-run dessert shop who gave him a life-saving candy twenty years ago. Torn between the capital's tight demolition deadline and the old residents' memory-filled, warm daily lives, they go from rivals to partners, uncovering the alley's "living history": Republican-era love letters in wall cracks, old brass bells under eaves, handwritten menus in the dessert shop's kitchen... When the demolition notice is posted, they realize what they're defending isn't just the old alley, but the unspoken "I've been waiting for you" from years past.
