Socialphobic cartoonist Lu Mingchuan, closed off by childhood trauma, saw the world only in black and white—until he sheltered from rain in “Sweet Star” dessert shop and was forcefully “fed” a strawberry tart by its lively owner, Lin Xiaoman. Since then, he became Xiaoman’s “little tail”: following her to pick fruits at the morning market, making sugar cookies for the orphanage, chatting with the elderly widow next door, even adding pink to his comics. But when Xiaoman’s hidden terminal illness diagnosis falls out of her medicine box, Lu Mingchuan realizes: the light he’s been chasing so hard has also been waiting for him to hold the umbrella.
