In the old alley of the urban village, Jinzi, an orphan selling braised dishes, always clutches a yellowed copy of *Wild Grass*—the only keepsake from her missing younger brother. Zhang Hongming, a down-and-out lawyer on the run from debts, first meets her when she’s chasing a extorting rogue with a wok spatula, braised sauce dripping from her hair but smiling brighter than the sun. Bonded by the old book, they pool money to save a failing shop—until Jinzi’s long-absent wealthy father suddenly appears, demanding she return to the豪门 to inherit; and Zhang’s creditor, whom he’s evaded for three years, threatens him with news of Jinzi’s brother. When these two, tough as wild weeds, face fate’s “sugar-coated trap,” will they choose money, or the warm, smoky warmth they hold in each other’s arms?
