Thirty-five-year-old Li Jianguo is an ordinary plumber in an old Hangzhou neighborhood, spending his days fixing leaky toilets and replacing hallway light bulbs to live a quiet, stable life. One early morning, he's woken by an urgent call: the Yunfeng Dam on the city's outskirts has developed a critical crack, and the only temporary substitute for the urgently needed special repair parts is a set of plumbing fittings he modified for a friend half a year ago. Caught between the fear of losing his steady job and the responsibility to save hundreds of thousands of lives, the unprepared plumber has to climb to the top of the 100-meter-high dam, kicking off an ordinary man's desperate rescue mission.
