I Win My Father-in-Law's Heart by Catching Criminals

Lin Xiaochuan, a new community police officer, doesn’t fret over neighborhood chaos—his biggest worry is his father-in-law Zhou Mingyuan, a retired detective who scorns him for being “too useless to catch a petty thief.” To earn approval, Lin launches a “crime-catching charm offensive”: he stakes out a fraudster but mistakenly arrests his uncle selling health products, follows a suspicious person only to be called a pervert, and becomes the neighborhood joke. Until the suspect in Zhou’s unsolved “bicycle theft spree” resurfaces. Lin uses his “stupid” method—three days of nonstop stakeout—and finally nabs the guy. When Zhou sees the suspect’s photo, his eyes well up—that’s the criminal he missed years ago while saving a stranger. Lin realizes Zhou’s “criticism” was just fear he’d repeat his regret. What starts as a ridiculous “pleasing” mission ends up as a legacy of two generations of cops.
