Lin Xiaoman, a modern late-night hot pot stall owner, is sucked into the chaotic late years of the Dazhao Dynasty by her ancestral bronze pot. She saves the hunted young general Gu Zhao with a pot of spicy hot pot, only to find this smoky warmth has become the "key to the world"—refugees put down their knives for hot soup, warlords negotiate for the soup base, and even the enemy prince disguises himself to steal the recipe. When her "Smoky Fire Army" built with hot pot is about to end the chaos, Gu Zhao suddenly presses a sword to her throat: "Do you want to be Xiaoman who warms pots, or the empress on the dragon throne?" The words "Mountains and rivers into the pot, the world returns to the heart" engraved inside the pot have long written her ending in the boiling soup.
