Modern hip-hop streamer Chen Mo, trying to ride the "1980s disco retro wave" for his live stream, accidentally triggers a family heirloom disco ball and travels back to 1987, landing in the state-owned Hongxing Textile Factory. His hybrid dance of locking and moonwalk ignites the factory's weekend dance party, earning him the nickname "Dance King Who Can Heat Up the Floor" from the workers. But troubles soon follow: Su Xiaoyun, the factory's "Iron Flower," calls him "frivolous and disruptive to production"; the factory director demands he win the city workers' dance competition—only the champion gets the critical staff housing quota; and to his surprise, the opposing team's leader is his grandma's former disco partner, who holds the secret of why his grandma gave up dancing. Chen Mo must use his "20-years-ahead" dance skills to help the factory secure the quota, change Su Xiaoyun's prejudice against dance, and uncover his grandma's past—learning that being a "Dance King" isn't about flashy moves, but about dancing life with passion.
