Lin Xiaoman, a socially anxious modern girl, travels back to 1985 and inhabits the body of a namesake girl known as the "neighborhood show-off" in a state-owned factory dorm complex. She crashes into a coal pile while chasing a runaway pig for Grandma Zhang, wraps Uncle Li's Forever bicycle in colorful lights, and even drags the stern "neighborhood enforcer" Director Wang to a disco. But when Xiaoman realizes her "chaotic antics" bring laughter back to the widowed Grandma Zhang, help the laid-off Uncle Li earn money with modified bikes, and discover that Director Wang's late daughter's photo looks 70% like her, she suddenly understands: being a "show-off" in the 1980s is actually being a warm little sun that lights up people's lives.
