A fifty-year-old single mother Lin Xiulan is publicly humiliated by her daughter, now a socialite, at her 50th birthday banquet—who despises her for cheap clothes and patched hands, even threatening to sever ties. Heartbroken, Xiulan flees to a suburban house overnight. Looking at the half pieces of cloth and needles accompanying her for half a lifetime, she sews the unfinished embroidery from her childhood. This warm work is spotted by an assistant of an international fashion master, instantly igniting the 'natural style' trend in design. The once-disdained daughter kneels begging for forgiveness and to be her apprentice, but Xiulan is cold-hearted seeing her changed child, turning to her own splendid life without looking back.
