Off-stage, she secretly cares for children at the southern city orphanage where she grew up. At an opera relic auction, she clashes with Gu Shen, a playful antique dealer, over an old costume embroidered with roses—this costume is the heirloom of Gu Shen's missing grandfather, hiding a map to the orphanage's original site. To get close, Gu Shen pretends to be a fan and pesters Lin Wan, only to find she's the "Little Rose" who helped him escape human traffickers as a child.
