In early Republican China, lotus picker Xiahe saves wounded officer Cheng Yuan by the misty river. Their moonlit romance is shattered when bandits discover she's his weakness. As monsoon rains batter the lotus ponds, Xiahe must choose between love and protecting her village, unaware Cheng's mission threatens to destroy both.
