Once a down-and-out scholar who took the rap for his brother, he was mistakenly appointed as the 'fake magistrate' to the turbulent Ping'an Post, unaware he was already caught in a decades-old corruption case. To his surprise, the post's head is the daughter of a former imperial inspector, who has lurked there for years to take revenge. Bound by a contract marriage, their fake identity crises and revenge obsessions collide amid imperial undercurrents and grudges. Gradually falling in love through their clashes, they team up to expose the conspiracy, punish corrupt officials, restore peace to Ping'an Post and redeem themselves.
