Su Xiao, an urban surgeon, returns to Yunxi Village—her grandfather's hometown—to find "Miracle Doctor Li" in a desperate attempt to cure her grandfather's strange illness. To her surprise, the so-called "miracle doctor" is Li Changsheng, a 20-something lad in coarse cloth. Su Xiao is convinced he's a charlatan, until her grandfather suddenly suffers from breathing difficulties. Li uses wild mugwort from the mountains and acupuncture to relieve the symptoms instantly, even pinpointing the root of his grandfather's long-hidden ailment. As they interact, Su Xiao discovers Li's skills come from a lost folk medical book, and he stays in the village to fulfill his master's last wish: "Protect every villager." When her grandfather fully recovers, Su Xiao not only changes her opinion of Li but also is touched by his persistence—their relationship begins to shift in a subtle, sweet way.
