Emergency doctor Lin Xiaoman returns to her remote Dabie Mountains hometown after her grandmother's passing, planning to leave soon. But when the village's only doctor has a stroke, she faces villagers' distrust: "City doctors can't handle our mountain life." She stays anyway—using a stethoscope instead of a CT scan, bamboo as an IV stand. She cures a left-behind child's pneumonia, corrects an elder's decade-long wrong medication. During a rainstorm rescue of a pregnant woman, her childhood friend and village secretary Chen Mo stops her: "This isn't a city hospital—you're risking your life!" From clashing to collaborating on a village clinic, Lin realizes she's guarding more than health: it's the "warmth of roots" her grandma spoke of, and the forgotten promise they buried under the old locust tree—"We'll be village doctors when we grow up."
