Stubborn old lady Xie Haiyan refuses to move for demolition, stubbornly guarding the ancestral home to wait for her long-lost daughter. Her eldest son, a spineless man reliant on his wife, and her gambling-addicted youngest son, buried in debt, both see their mother as a burden and try to shirk responsibility for her to grab拆迁 (demolition) benefits. When the daughter finally returns, she fiercely exposes the greed and hypocrisy of her brothers and sister-in-law. With her daughter's support, the old lady wakes up and harshly rejects her kneeling, repentant sons, resolutely cutting ties with these ungrateful children in a satisfying family reversal drama.
