Lin Xiaoman, an internet professional from the big city, returns home on the 28th day of the 12th lunar month. Before she can even put down her luggage, her grandfather drags her to the ancestral hall—the old clan leader has fallen seriously ill, and the whole clan has voted for her, the "worldly-wise one," to be the temporary leader. But the village has long lost its New Year warmth: all young people are away, the elderly guard empty houses, and even the cured meat for the New Year feast is covered in dust. While arguing with her father, who clings to "old rules," Xiaoman uses short videos to help the village sell products and organize an "online New Year feast" for the scattered young people. On New Year's Eve, when the ancestral hall door opens, there are not only returning villagers with luggage but also "cloud relatives" holding dumplings on their phones—turns out the warmest New Year is never about clinging to old customs, but about gathering hearts that are scattered everywhere.
