Ancient book restorer Su Wan finds a Qing Dynasty manual on gu craft in her late grandmother’s attic. Desperate to save her younger brother from terminal illness, she secretly practices the Blood-Calling Gu, which only requires her own blood to take effect. But after the first activation, she is haunted by visions of a Republican-era bride and her officer lover dying tragically together. Worse, a cinnabar mole identical to the bride’s appears on her fingertip. As her brother’s condition improves, Su Wan’s memories fade day by day, and her reflection in the mirror starts to look more and more like the mysterious bride. She soon realizes the true cost of the Blood-Calling Gu is not her blood, but letting an unfulfilled ghost take over her life.
