In the Republic of China, the unruly playboy Gu Shao marries Su Wanning, the medical and martial arts prodigy of his family’s rival Su clan, for 4,000 silver dollars to avenge his family. He plans to humiliate her after marriage, but Su Wanning surprises him—she cures his chronic old wound with her医术, suppresses his reckless tricks with her martial arts, and even saves his family from bankruptcy using her medical connections. Gu Shao, who intended to "tame" his wife, ends up having his heart "tamed" instead. The once lavish playboy now brews medicine and brings pastries for her; the former hotheaded troublemaker panics when she frowns. Amid their rivalry of "who tames whom," their unspoken feelings grow stronger, staging a Republic-era sweet romance where enemies turn into lovers with heart-fluttering twists.
