Lin Xiaoman, a solo suspense writer, moves into an old urban building to meet her deadline, only to be woken by knocks at 3 AM every night—through the peephole, a woman in a dark green cheongsam stands motionless. She asks the property management, who says no such person lives there; neighbor Aunt Zhang turns pale: “That’s Zhou Ning, who went missing ten years ago—she lived in your room!” Lin locks the door, but that night the knocks grow more urgent, with a woman’s sobs: “I’m waiting for the key…” Then she remembers the brass key in the drawer, engraved with “302”—her room number.
