Newly graduated intern teacher Lin Xiao hits a wall immediately after taking over the most notoriously unruly class in her school. She repeatedly clashes with Zhang Jie, Haohao’s mother, a well-known tough-talking parent who once publicly questioned her teaching, altered her son’s homework without permission and even organized a parent boycott over homework loads. Everything changes when Haohao suddenly falls ill with acute gastroenteritis late one night. Panicked Zhang Jie calls Lin Xiao first, who rushes to help and stays with the boy at the hospital overnight. As they get to know each other, Lin Xiao learns Zhang Jie’s brusque exterior hides a single mom’s anxiety from raising a child alone and fear of her son going astray. The two eventually move from hostility to mutual understanding.
