In 1930s China, down-and-out painter Shen Xinghe meets mysterious songstress Jiang Qingmeng by the Qinhuai River. Her nightly performances of forgotten melodies hide a celestial secret. When warlords accuse her of treason, Xinghe discovers she's a river goddess he betrayed in their past life.
