Li Dayou, a disabled bun seller, gives his last warm bun to a starving beggar, who leaves a magic brush inscribed with “Kindness as Ink” before disappearing. His 10-year-old daughter Xiaotang discovers the brush’s power—her drawing of a “walking leg” lets Dad stand briefly, and a “long line at the bun stall” brings real customers. But when she tries to draw “paid rent,” the brush burns her hand: every “fate-altering” stroke requires first helping a marginalized person. As the landlord smashes their stall and Dad hides a kidney sale consent form, Xiaotang uses the brush to make a cotton coat for a homeless grandpa, a hearing aid for a deaf-mute grandma. Just as she earns enough “kindness points,” the brush demands one final drawing: the beggar’s young face. It turns out the beggar was an orphan Dad saved 20 years ago—the brush is a “kindness echo,” proving that changing fate never relies on magic, but the goodness in one’s heart.
