Lin Wan, a cultural relic restorer, accidentally travels into the Ming Dynasty painting *Boat in Misty Willows* while restoring it, becoming a maid in a Jiangnan opera boat. She catches the eye of Su Muyan, a cold and elegant courtesan who always plays *Qing Ping Diao* on the pipa—actually, he is the third prince, framed and exiled to investigate royal secrets. They make tea and discuss paintings in misty alleys, and protect each other amid power struggles. But when Lin Wan discovers she’s the “outsider who can break the puzzle” in the painting, how will she choose between “staying for a lifetime of quiet bliss” and “returning to modern times for her unfinished duties”?
