Corporate slave Lin Xiaoman loses her job and learns of her grandmother's death on the same day. Rushing back to the old lane house, she finds the "star lamp" her grandma repeatedly said: "Only light it when you meet the right person"—but the lamp is long damaged by time. Squatting at the lane entrance fumbling to fix it, she's approached by craftsman Chen Mo, who offers to repair it on one condition: she accompany him to feed the stray cats daily. During repairs, Xiaoman finds an old photo in his toolbox: a young her clinging to her grandma's hem, with a muddy boy beside them. It turns out Chen Mo is the homeless kid her grandma saved 20 years ago—he saved for three months to buy the lamp but was sent to a foster family before giving it. Now he's here to fulfill the promise. When the lamp lights up on the rooftop, warm glow projects grandma's words: "Xiaoman, the kid who left the star with me is finally here for you."
