Lin Shen, owner of the old tavern "Guixu" in Tianjin, is the long-lost young master of the Lin family who has been in hiding for a decade. Ten years ago, the Lin family was wiped out for exposing a warlord's opium smuggling ring, and he narrowly escaped, living as an ordinary man ever since. Until Su Wan, a social news reporter, bursts into the tavern with a yellowed old photo of the Lin family, vowing to investigate the truth behind the massacre. Lin Shen tries to push her away, only to discover that behind Su Wan stands Zhao Yuanlang—the mastermind of the tragedy, now the powerful president of Tianjin Chamber of Commerce. As Su Wan digs deeper, Lin Shen's identity is exposed, and Zhao Yuanlang begins testing him. Forced to pick up his old willow-leaf knife, Lin Shen must protect Su Wan while confronting the dusty hatred and truth he's buried for ten years.
