Chen Aming, a folk suona performer, earns his living playing at weddings and funerals. Born with the ability to hear the whispers of wandering spirits, he uses his suona to convey the unfulfilled wishes of the deceased. When he takes a funeral gig for a lonely elder Mrs. Li, the mournful notes of his suona carry a vengeful plea for justice. He realizes her death was no natural cause. Tracking down clues, he discovers Mrs. Li’s nephew murdered her to seize her property and bribed the entire village to cover it up. Caught between supporting his family and honoring the deceased’s grievances, Aming must brave rumors and danger to blow the truth hidden in the funeral music and seek justice for the dead.
