Lin Xiaoman is A-list star Gu Wan's "shadow assistant"—she shields Gu from obsessive fans, takes the fall for her scandals, and even lets her crush Lu Yan believe that the person who stayed with him through his darkest days was Gu. Until Lu catches Xiaoman crying while packing, disguised as Gu, and realizes: the one who drove him to the hospital in the rain, who stayed up revising scripts with him—was always Xiaoman. Just as Lu finally confesses his love, Gu returns with a movie contract, ordering Xiaoman to "stay my shadow" and mocking her for "stealing even love." Xiaoman hides in the dressing room, tearing up photos with Lu, not knowing Lu is outside, clutching the love letter she's hidden for three years—this time, he's bringing his "shadow" into the light.
