Banished consort Nan Gongwan, secretly suffering from a chronic illness, is summoned back to treat Emperor Xiao Jin's rare malady. For two decades, she burns special incense to calm his nightmares while he dismisses her as a lowly healer. As Nan takes a poisoned arrow for him, Xiao Jin discovers every incense stick contained drops of her blood: the 'starlight' that illuminated his darkest nights was her life slowly burning away.
