Su Wan, a down-and-out fashion designer, rents an old house in the ancient city and stumbles upon a moon-white silk dress embroidered with silver osmanthus—its hem bears a dark brown stain, like unwashed blood. Trying it on at midnight, the room suddenly fills with osmanthus fragrance, and a man in a Republic of China suit, Cheng Yan, stands in the moonlight, softly calling her "Zhi Xia". Cheng Yan is a "ghost" who jumped into the river for his fiancée Shen Zhixia 80 years ago, trapped in a time rift waiting for her return.
