Lin Xiaoman, an ancient book restorer, stumbles upon a gilded copy of *Chronicle of Cloud and Moon* in a pile of old books. The moment her finger touches the page, she’s whisked away to an ancient building floating in clouds—home to Gu Zhao, the “Guardian of the Moon,” whose duty is to safeguard humans’ lost memories in the moonlight and bar anyone from touching them. But Xiaoman is determined to find the truth: why her mother vanished after saying “There’s a moon above the clouds” when she was a child—and that truth lies in the core of the moonlight Gu Zhao guards. When Gu Zhao sees Xiaoman’s red, tear-streaked eyes over her memories, he hesitates for the first time: should he uphold the cold rules, or help her catch the “moon” that belonged to her mother?
