For three full years, Lin Yan has lived alone in a thatched cottage deep in the mist-wreathed mountains, spotting not a single traveler day in and day out, convinced he'd spend his whole life in quiet seclusion with the mountain mists. Until a badly wounded scholar stumbles into his cottage, pulling out a jade pendant he lost in childhood and claiming he met Lin Yan on the mountain path three years prior. Lin Yan is utterly bewildered: he has never set foot off this mountain, and the jade pendant should have been lost when he fell off a cliff years ago. What hidden secrets lurk deep within this silent mist-shrouded valley?
