The next day, a boy in a Republic of China student uniform bursts into her studio, claiming to be A Zhao, and says the dress was a betrothal gift for his fiancée—but he doesn’t know he died in a 1943 air raid, forever stuck in the alley where he waited for her. Touching the bullet hole on the dress and looking at the vivid boy, Lin Xiaoman realizes this "reunion" is the red dress’s lifelong courage—to help two people who never said "goodbye" fulfill their uncompleted promise.
