During the Chenghua period of the Ming Dynasty, Lu Yan, the palace seal keeper in charge of the imperial seal, was ordered to investigate stolen treasures from the imperial palace. He unexpectedly rescued a seriously injured mysterious woman A Wu from a dark compartment of an old suburban house. A Wu’s face resembled Lu Yan’s deceased younger sister, arousing his pity, so he risked hiding her in his residence. As the investigation deepened, A Wu’s identity was revealed: she was a princess of the fallen previous dynasty who lived in seclusion, carrying secret letters for previous dynasty loyalists to restore the country. Caught between duties and personal feelings, Lu Yan had to avoid opposing palace forces while protecting A Wu from ambitious people. The two gradually developed a bond transcending status and stance amid constant dangers.
