Su Xiao, a corporate slave, finally meets her programmer boyfriend Chen Mo's father. She expects a stern, old-fashioned "intimidating father-in-law", but the man who opens the door is Lao Zhou—the night market uncle who always saves her grilled skewers! Lao Zhou has long remembered her preferences: double garlic on spicy eggplant, soft steamed buns for her late-night overtime stomach. But just as Su Xiao relaxes, Lao Zhou suddenly "challenges" her: "My son doesn't even know romance—are you sure you want to marry him?" It turns out this "not cold" father-in-law has the warmest secret: he's afraid his clumsy son can't keep a true heart, and even more afraid that his future daughter-in-law will lose the warmth of life before tasting the smoke and fire of his home.
