On her first night moving into an old residential community, white-collar worker Lin Xiaoman receives a "Resident Code" demanding she "practice 'many children, much happiness'." She dismisses it as a joke—until an aunt neighbor falls down the stairs for refusing a third child, her best friend’s birth control is replaced with folic acid, and her phone floods with baby-making guides. When she uncovers the code is backed by vengeful spirits of women oppressed to death by forced reproduction, her menstrual cycle disrupts, and a voice whispers, "It’s time to have a baby." She must choose between obeying to survive or fighting fate—and the spirits are targeting not just her, but her new boyfriend too.
