Lin Wan, a small-town cellist, and Chen Mo, a Beijing-drifting painter, are “goose-promise lovers”—they meet at the old pier every year when wild geese fly south to exchange tokens. But this autumn, Lin Wan has to give up her Beijing solo concert to take care of her mother with uremia; Chen Mo just gets a chance to study at Paris Fine Arts School, too afraid to say “I’ll stay” under the weight of his dream.
