Successful businessman Cheng Yuan rushes home upon hearing of his father's critical illness, only to find he's arrived too late. While sorting through belongings, he discovers every childhood drawing he ever made, meticulously preserved, along with unsent birthday cards. Learning from neighbors that his father waited daily at the train station hoping to see him, Cheng is consumed by guilt. When he accidentally plays an old tape recorder containing his father's voice saying 'I've always been proud of you,' he collapses in the pouring rain at the gravesite.
