Lin Shen, a modern rural revitalization consultant, accidentally travels back to 1983’s Qinggang Village— the backward mountain village his grandfather called “too poor to even drink the cold north wind”—while burning the midnight oil on a project. Facing the leaky village committee hut, villagers weeping over unsold oranges, and the old party secretary who scorns “new ideas,” he grips his modern agricultural manual and resolves to reverse fate with 21st-century wisdom: establishing a collective cooperative to integrate fragmented land, using the radio to build a cross-village trade line for oranges, and even modifying an old radio into a “rustic e-commerce” setup. When the sweet aroma of orange jam floats from Qinggang Village and villagers laugh with wrinkles holding dividend money, Lin Shen realizes: he helped the 1983 village come alive, and the village helped him rediscover his grandfather’s “original intention” from back then.
