Lin Xiaoman, a screenwriter who stayed up all night crafting a Republican-era script, accidentally travels back in time to become the "unlucky young lady" dumped by the warlord's mansion. Fleeing the house, she crashes straight into Young Marshal Gu Yanchen—who happens to hold the arms list from her script, forcing her to "pretend to be his fiancée" to cover his tracks.
