Lu Xiya, who hides her identity as an animal translator, accidentally picks up Fubao, a stray dog that keeps murmuring “want to go home”. To help Fubao find its family, she approaches Wang Dabo, a veterinarian just back from abroad—who has been trapped in guilt for three years over “not being there for Fubao’s last moment”. When Lu Xiya says, “Fubao says it never blamed you”, Wang Dabo goes from scoffing to believing. Along the way to find home, they uncover the truth about Fubao’s abduction years ago and find warmth in each other. But when Fubao finally gets to “go home”, Lu Xiya realizes she’s already become another part of Fubao and Wang Dabo’s “home”.
