Wang Xingyu, a failed Beipiao, plunged into the northwest wilderness with his last savings, determined to turn his luck around by growing drought-resistant fruit trees. But he immediately offended Zhou Kui, the local “tyrant”—his orchard was vandalized, water cut off, and he was on the brink of ruin. Just then, he met You Ling, a local girl targeted for opposing Zhou Kui’s polluting mine. Using You Ling’s knowledge of soil and water, they improved the trees while outwitting Zhou Kui—from water wars to exposing his fake environmental scams. When the mountains were full of ripe fruits, Zhou Kui tried to seize the orchard. Wang Xingyu smiled and pulled out the pollution evidence You Ling had collected: “This time, we make the rules in the Northwest.”
