To uncover the truth, Lin Wan quits her stable job and chases from the water towns of Jiangnan to the deserts of Northwest China, investigating the "volunteer teaching program" Xiaotang was involved in—only to discover it's a front for a human trafficking ring run by a gang with ties to the drug cartel she took down as an undercover agent a decade ago. Along the way, she meets Gu Chuan, a forensic doctor also searching for his missing sister. From mutual distrust to fighting side by side, they risk their lives to uncover the truth, and in their fiery quest for justice, they learn to understand each other's pain and perseverance.
