Su Wan, owner of the old-item repair shop "Threads of Time" in the alley, has a secret—she can read fragments of an item owner's past by touching old objects. Until Gu Shiyan, a man in a suit, arrives with a pocket watch that stopped in 1999, begging to restore the faded photo of his late girlfriend Lin Xiaoman inside. As Su Wan works, she frequently dreams of being Lin Xiaoman: sharing popsicles with teenage Gu Shiyan by the wall, him buying her a hairpin with a month's savings, and his final shout before the car accident: "Xiaoman, run!" When the watch hands start moving again, Gu Shiyan stares at the teardrop mole at Su Wan's eye corner and trembles: "You look exactly like her when you wear that hairpin." And in Su Wan's palm, a butterfly birthmark identical to Lin Xiaoman's in the photo is slowly appearing...
