Su Wan has had the same recurring dream about Guizhou City for ten years: she is Wanniang, a healer, in love with Gu Cheng, a frontier general. But instead of his triumph, she gets news of his “collusion with the enemy.” She is beaten to death trying to prove his innocence, and he returns from the battlefield only to hold her body and jump off Guizhou’s cliff. At an antique exhibition, she meets Gu Zhao, a homestay owner who looks identical to Gu Cheng. Chasing him to Guizhou Ancient Town, their dreams overlap—Gu Zhao always dreams of a woman in red by the cliff, while Su Wan frequently flashes back to past-life fragments. Just as they try to unravel their past-life misunderstanding, Su Wan suddenly falls into frequent comas. Doctors find a blood clot in her brain that matches the shape of Guizhou’s ancient cliff—her past-life obsession brought her across a thousand years to find him. Is this lifetime’s encounter a trans-temporal redemption, or another tragedy?
