Lin Du, a thousand-year-old fox demon, faces his final trial to become immortal: kill his new wife Su Wan within seven days. Su Wan, an oblivious human healer, spends every day tending to him—boiling medicine, risking rain to find herbs—her soft smile melting his centuries of loneliness. On the seventh night, as he raises the blade over her sleeping form, he remembers her words: "When we're old, let's plant peach trees together." The Immortal Lord's催促 rings in his ears, but the blade grows heavier in his hand. Suddenly, Su Wan wakes up, rubbing her eyes and offering a candy: "You've been insomniac lately—I made lily porridge." The blade clatters to the ground. Lin Du hugs her, sobbing: "I don't want immortality anymore." But the Immortal Lord appears to punish him. Su Wan steps in front: "Kill me instead!" Just as the thunder strikes, golden light envelopes them—revealing the true trial: learning to give up immortality for love.
