Ancient book restorer Lin Zhan accidentally travels back to the prosperous Tang Dynasty after an electric shock while restoring an exclusive Tang manuscript *Chang'an Night Patrol Map*. Waking up as a curfew night patrol constable in Chang'an, she knows little about Tang customs but uses modern emergency knowledge to solve one bizarre night case after another: clearing an embroiderer framed by a supposed "haunting ghost", exposing a black market gang selling imperial court's new artifacts, and even uncovering a secret related to imperial succession in the shadows of Daming Palace. Every night patrol is fraught with danger. She searches for a way back home while being touched by Chang'an, a city hiding worldly joys and sorrows and hidden court undercurrents in its night, and gets caught up in the turbulent era's undercurrent.
