Lin Wan, a Beijing drifter and illustrator, is forced to sign a "fiancée contract" with Gu Tingshen, the president of Kyoto Technology, to raise money for her grandmother's surgery. The ice-cold Gu seems harsh on her, but secretly repairs her torn sketches and braves a blizzard to buy her favorite sugar-fried chestnuts. Lin Wan, soft yet stubborn, initially sees this as a transaction, but gradually falls for Gu through small moments: he stays by her side all night when she's sick, shields her from workplace schemes. Just as they're about to confess their feelings, Gu's ex-girlfriend returns with an "old love necklace," claiming she's here to take him back. Lin Wan, thinking she's just a substitute, packs her bags to leave. Gu chases her to the airport on a snowy night—he pulls out the hot milk carton Lin gave him in the snow twenty years ago, shouting with red eyes: "I've been looking for you for two decades. You're the 'winter warmth' in my life!" It turns out the girl who saved the落魄 little Gu in the snow on the outskirts of Beijing all those years ago was exactly Lin Wan.
