On the day Lin Wan’s marriage collapses—her husband cheated with her best friend and she’s left penniless after divorce—the 45-year-old stumbles upon Shen Cang at dusk in an old alley. The retired architect, always in a faded shirt, is feeding stray cats. He quietly pays her mother’s surgery fees and helps her reignite the fashion design dream she gave up 20 years ago for her family. When her ex-husband arrives to hound her over the mistress’s debts, when her son sneers at her “embarrassing late-life romance”, Shen Cang reveals a dusty group director’s certificate and smiles: “I’ve guarded buildings all my life; now I want to guard you.” As the evening breeze lifts the hem of her designed dress, Lin Wan finds that dusk isn’t the end—it’s where the most passionate love blooms, the most satisfying comeuppance befalls her ex, and the warmest companion stays by her side forever.
