Lin Xiaoman, a "sticky note girl" in an advertising company, endures endless exploitation—taking the blame for colleagues, being betrayed by her cheating boyfriend Chen Mo and best friend Zhou Yuwei (who steals her project), and feeling broken on Chinese New Year's Eve (Year of the Horse). That night, she meets Xiaofu, a tiny Nian Beast who claims to bring "good fortune"—but instead of handing her success, it pushes her to fight back. She reclaims her project with original ideas, exposes Chen Mo's infidelity publicly, and stands up to her manipulative boss. When she earns a promotion to project director, she discovers Xiaofu is actually the Nian Beast doll she drew as a child—a symbol of her lost courage. The "good fortune" was never from the beast; it was from rediscovering her true self.
